An Introduction to Rollerjoring...

Rollerjoring is rollerblading via dog power. It is a very fun experience. It is also a challenge to the dog as well as the owner. It requires a reliable, obedient dog; and a handler that can rollerblade!Jackson(the german shepherd in the picture) and I just discovered this wonderful way of exercise and fun...and we are now addicted!

To begin, you'll need to know your dog knows basic commands such as "wait"--a command used to stop...very important; "go"...well...used to accelerate; etc. Materials such as a good pair of roller blades(with brakes/stoppers), a helmet, and other protection, are a good idea for you...and a HARNESS and strong...5-6 foot leash for your dog.

Before and after your trip, check your dogs pads for cuts and other discomforts in the paws. Also, a good stretch is helpful...so a quick walk or a game of fetch is a good idea.

Please make sure your dog is healthy enough.A dog with Arthritis or hip dysplasia for example wouldn't be very happy with this sport.
